Quentin To Do Jason Movie?

A rumor to end all rumors … Tarantino to make the new Friday the 13th movie!
IGN FilmForce has learned that none other than Oscar-winner Quentin Tarantino is in final negotiations to write and direct the Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie, an all new Friday the 13th for New Line.
At first 
blush, it sounds too cheesy to have any truth to it. But the more I think about this, I think its exactly what QT would like to do. Just like with Kill Bill, he’s taking a genre (slasher/horror film instead of kung-fu) that has long been neglected by anyone with talent, with the sole purpose of resurrecting it; showing that even this so-called lowly genre can contain compelling films if done the right way.
The projected schedule for this movie would have principal photography starting this year.

UPDATE #2: Bloody Disgusting reports that this is NOT a rumor, though the way they word it, Tarantino is only “in talks” to do the film, not confirmed.
UPDATE #3: Even Reuters is reporting this rumor. And the guys in the Friday the 13th Forum have started photoshopping this idea.

Well fanboys are all a buzz over here at the Friday the 13th forum, but we have our doubts. Although his reps do not flat out deny that he is “in talks”, the liklihood that this would be pulled together within the year and be completed successfully doesn’t seem probable. We’ll see… I don’t think people need to get their hopes up.

Wow. If this is indeed true, it looks like Inglorious Bastards and his Untitled Mandrin Film will get pushed back even further. I see this as pretty good news though. I prefer Jason over Freddy anyways and would be extatic to see Jason in all his bloody glory like he is supposed to be. And who better to take him there than QT himself? Here’s to hoping this all goes down as planned!

I got bored so I decided to write this little list of QT’s upcoming film if this Jason movie gets added to the list. Four out of five I can see happening but the Vega Brothers movie is more and more unlikely to happen as Travolta and Madsen get older and older…

I was content with Inglorious Bastards seemingly being pushed back for the Untitled Mandrin film,however it will suck if it’s pushed back for a Jason movie. I know QT could revamp the franchishe, and even make it into a great movie, but Inglorious Bastards sounds soooo much better.

Even though I hate slasher movies and I think this is unlikely to happen, I’m sure QT will make this movie worth seeing. This means however that Inglorious Bastards is getting pushed back even farther and who knows what will happen to his Mandrin project. I WANT TO SEE INGLORIOUS BASTARDS!!!

I think Tarantino would have a lot more fun with Freddy Krueger.. But if anyone can make a cool Slasher, it’s Tarantino.

This sounds awesome. Seriously. Slasher flicks are kinda underrated and I think that Quentin could have a lot of fun with it, and have a great soundtrack.

Well, it was fun while it lasted, but it just will never happen, as has been confirmed by QT himself. I hope another talented director can take up the Friday the 13th series and breathe some new life into it some day soon!
