Grind House Details, Plus Bastards Info
Tarantino talks Grind House and Inglorious Bastards, with a tidbit in there about Vega Brothers.
As previously reported, Grind House will be in 2 parts. Robert Rodriguez part is called Planet Terror and Tarantino’s section will be Death Proof. Rodriguez film has a zombie theme and Tarantino’s is a slasher film, but with a car.
The film will also feature trailers for fictional movies:
“That’s one of the things we’re looking the most forward to, shooting the phony trailers that will play in between the movies. I’m working out my blaxploitation trailer, and possibly a kung-fu trailer, a sexploitation trailer, a spaghetti-western trailer. I just need to kind of work them out a little bit. I’m just getting them down there, but I think for sure I’m going to do the sexploitation trailer, which is called Cowgirls in Sweden. “
As for Inglorious Bastards, here’s what QT had to say:
…will probably be the next thing I do after I finish Grind House. That will be my next big Mount Everest, climb-the-mountain kind of project.
I’ve got a big portion of it done. I’ve been waiting for all the Kill Bill stuff to be over with, and then to maybe chill on it a little bit, and then [get] ready to finish writing it. … I have like five years of writing behind me now, and I just need to add one more year to it.

I hate when QT says “I gotta chill on it a bit” Kill Bill has been over for a long time now. He needs to forget chilling out and start making some movies before the 15 years are up. I want more than 7 or 8 QT movies to watch after he retires.

Ya, no offense to him, since he is my favorite director, but I would have thought that the 6 years or so between Jackie Brown and Kill Bill was plenty of time to chill. Oh well, this is good news that he is finally starting to get Grind House off the ground. The cast is the big question mark for me here. Will he stick with familiar faces or some new fresh blood?

I know for sure hes going to pick a cult film legend as one of the characters.
Death Proof will be set in the Movie Movie Universe so we might see some characters from From Dusk Til Dawn or Kill Bill in it too.

I think it will be a guy in a car hitting people walking/running on the road. Cars arent very scary unless theyre running people down like in Christine or The Car. Joy Ride was a trucker stalking some people.

i seems like everytime i check to see what qt is doing he has another project that he wants to start before he starts another. anyone remember his kung fu film he said he was going to make in between inglorious bastards that was filmed entirely in mandarin? i personly like the grind house idea just a bit better because seeing quinton and robert doing a slasher film in the old grind house style seems so awesome. they just better get their asses moving because i want at least this and inglorious before he goes crazy and blows up with all these movies with unfinished scripts in his head.

First QT says Inglorious Bastards was the next film to be released. Now he’s talking about this Grind House movie. I recalled that he said in an interview with Maxim that he wanted to do a sci-fi and a kid’s movie. I guess those ideas have taken a backseat for a little while longer. Either way, any movie he will release next should be good.

I agree with DCZ you cant rush things, and I too would also like to see more films by him. but yous dont have to be so hursh to him about it, cause filmmaking is a really is job because theres shit like cost, scripting and all sorts of crap like that. also theres some of those Hollywood f##ks who dont allow things that are two violent or have to much swearing or what ever, i hate those f##ks. and those other f##ks that dont accept good movie ideas from people, like for example lets say some1 made a mad idea for a movie and they show that idea to those hollywood dirty f##k heads and they wont except that idea. they nope its no good enough, because all they care about is money and themselves. they would think sure its a good idea but it wont be a big hit, well what do they know and instead of coming up with mad new ideas they make ripe off version of crap already made like Twister, night of the tornados and nukeclear tornado or crap like lake placid, peranas, killer sakes. and thats how most of the hollywood f##ks do they dont come up with a ngood idea of their own and instead they ripe off some movie that was a big hit, all they do is change the name of the movie and make a different twist to their movies. so its people like that who slow down mad directors from making their films. because those really mad directors out there like QT have to worry about F##ks like that riping of their ideas. they have to think off a way no bum is going to copy it.so its because thing like that, that makes film making hard. thats what his chilling from all that crap he had to put up with. so cut the man some slack and dont be so hursh to him. im thinking of doing filmmaking myself and im a liitle worried about those stuff aswell. anyways i cant what for his new movies to come out.

I have to say reading all of these Ideas he has I can’t see how he’s gonna fit it in within 15 years I think he should stay in longer, like steven spileburg I dont particulary like his movies but lots of people do and he’s huge I think he should stay in longer than 15 years

Anyway, this will be great to see QT taking on more projects that dont relate to his roots with Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. But, with out closing his anthology of The Vega Bros. and Pulp Fiction 2, there will be love lost from fans. A bunch of times he has mentioned age being an issue for the actors involed. That’s bull because it’s supposed to be out of continuity, he’s the King of exploiting these inconsistincies in film as a plus for his works. It would be much funnier to see them out of chronological age reference. Before Vic was busted in the warehouse, and before Vincent left to Amsterdamn, when they both ran jobs for Marselis, before and around certain events. Samuel Jackson’s Jules was partners with QT’s character Jimmie. QT could carry that partnership in a Pulp Fiction prequel. The whole idea is when it comes to the comic book, or pulp book genre is that you can do anything. Anyone that was obviously dead, no matter how blatent, can be re-incarnated with any fantastic back story you could think of. The only thing, is him making sure timelines dont intersect with lies. For instance, Vic cant be in any scenes explaining the suitcase from Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs, he would be dead, unless the suitcase has powers that could bring back both dead characters as Marselus’s minions, showing his influence to Mario Bava’s Black Sabbath.
