Return Of The Vega Brothers Rumor
I wasn’t going to post about Michael Madsen talking about Vega Brothers again, but I’ve gotten a few emails and I see that JoBlo has picked it up. Here’s what Madsen said:
“Well, first he [Tarantino] said he would do it, then he said he wasn’t going to do it. Then he called me and said, ‘You know, I’ve figured out a way to do it. It can’t be a prequel because you and John don’t look the same. It wouldn’t make sense as a sequel because you’re both dead.’ And he gave me an idea that would be really outrageous – that John and I would be the twin brothers of Vic and Vincent. We come from Amsterdam to LA to avenge the deaths of our brothers. I think that’s pretty interesting. For me, I’d love to do it.”
The problem I have with this is that its basically the same thing Madsen said back in 2003 and QT has said contradictory things about the film for ages.

I like this idea. I think this is so brillant thinking both brothers have identical twins that are seeking revenge on there borthers killers it just seems so kool. But the thing is they cant take revenge on Mr.Blonde (Vic Vega) because Mr.Orange is (Freddy Moondike) is already dead. But I still think its a great idea to a sequel to my two favorite movies of all time. SO i hope Quentin Tarantino goes through with this. Oh yea and hope they both the same personalities of there doubles.

I think its kind of a stupid idea. It sounds to coincidental(or however you spell it) It would seem made up to me. Having both brothers having Twin Brothers

I wish he would stop talking about this freaking thing. Its seriously retarded and anyone who thinks its a good idea is retarded too. I dont want to see a prequel to Dogs and Pulp Fiction EVER!!!

Ya, let’s just put a fork in this idea and be done with it. I didn’t like the sound of it from the start. After Grind House, Tarantino needs to get working on Inglorious Bastards.

Tarantino’s a huge fan of A Better Tomorrow II. In A Better Tomorrow, Chow Yun Fat’s character, Mark, is killed. In A Better Tomorrow II, they bring the character back in the form of his twin brother Ken. John Woo homage, getting to see the Vega brothers again, and having Tarantino do another movie in his Reservoir Dogs/Pulp Fiction style? What kind of stone hearted jerk doesn’t want to see that?
I think it’s a great idea, a really deliberately movie-like touch. This isn’t real life we’re talking about, the incredible coincidence just adds to the fun.
I doubt he’s really going with a revenge plot, seeing as Orange is dead and Butch is no longer in LA. That’s why Tarantino isn’t writing this, it’s kind of a tough thing to come up with a decent plotline for.

QT has his Kill Bill/Grindhouse for the wacky, zany movie stuff. He doesnt need to ruin the legacy of Dogs and Pulp with a stupid sequel featuring twins of the original Vega Bros. Please, just shut up.

Rehashing old characters from 15 years ago would be pretty disappointing creatively. Instead he could make a great film, have his fans clamoring for a sequel to that movie because it’s so good, but then make another film that’s even better. I prefer that option.

Exactly. Thats another thing, doing a film like that is a big step backwards for a guy with QTs talents. The fans want him to see him do diff genres, not sequel and prequels to films from 10+ years ago. I personally want to see him make Inglorious Bastards, then spy & sci fi films in the future.

The Vega Brothers are dead. Madsen should stop this wishful rumor sh t. If QT, Madsen and Travolta want to do something together, they should consider entirely different characters.
The Vega Brothers are dead, period. Let them live with new viewers finding them in “Reservoir Dogs” and “Pulp Fiction.”

I think you guys are to attached to realism. And why wouldn’t you want to Mr.Blonde and Vicent Vega again in sequel those characters are so memerable and should be brought back. I think you guys should respect his QT’s ideas a little more.

We’re too attached to realism? WTF does THAT mean? Ive been a QT fan since 1992. I think I know what I want to see. This Vega Brothers thing is a LAME ASS idea. Kevin Smith can do his sequels to Clerks, but Dogs and Pulp should never be tainted by a dumb sequel with two twin brothers of guys that died.

There’s no point in this argument, fellas. The Vega Brothers are not going to happen, period. Either Michael Madsen was stoned when he said or he just likes fucking with us. If Tarantino wanted to make that prequel he would’ve done it at least five years ago. And that twin idea may have worked out if it was one of them but saying both characters have thier own twin and also happen to have the same last name is just pure lunacy. I could believe that Madsen is just setting up a prank that might happen, like maybe one of Tarantino’s fake trailers in Grindhouse will be The Vega Bros. with that completely insane twin idea and they get Travolta and Madsen to star in the trailer. Now that would be hilarious and genius. A little jab at the delusional QT fans.
Any-hoo, I think we should stay focused on Grindhouse and Inglorious Bastards. And pray for awesome I.G. casting. I hope Christopher Walken and Steve Buscemi can get their hands on some more Tarantino dialogue.

I’m very glad QT is doing Cowgirls In Sweden for his Grindhouse Sexploitation trailer. Id hate to see a Vega Brothers trailer. I loved the Vega brothers as characters but I do not want to revisit them in another film at all.

Pete man sorry for saying that everyone is to attached too realism .But all i was just saying that QT is just brain storming and most likley Vega Brothers movie wont happen. Thats why it sounds crazy and out of character. But I hope That Inglorious Bastards is made soon. And I hope it has that Stanley Kubric’s Full Metal Jacket kinda feel even thouhg there set in two different wars.

QT said in an interview that Inglorious Bastards will be his “The Good The Bad and The Ugly set in Nazi occupied France”. I dont think QT is the kind of director that would make a serious film statement like Full Metal Jacket was. IB is going to be more like a pulpy Men On a Mission War film if ya know what I mean.

Honestly, I’m getting bored of this damn tale. That’s a thing with QT movies, they always leave u with zillion rumors. And then when people let them slide after a while,they come right back. And it’s usually the ones that worked with him. So if Madsen is intrested with the ideal, he’d better drop it,’cause like Mike said, this film is NEVER gonna happen!

Although the ‘Vega Brothers’ film would be nothing without Travolta and Madsen, how about if QT used Rick Gomez (Sin City) and Freddy Rodriguez as Vic and Vince? Not the play the younger versions of Travolta and Madsen, but to give life to the brothers in different characters who are living completely different lives but share the same names and characteristics. That would be awesome to see Travolta and Madsen reprise those great roles!!!

i’d be interested to see if tarantino would do it. but there is the truth of travolta and madsen of being a bit on the old side. i vote that tarantino should do it but he would have to do it without ruining the names of the two movies.

Now i am no critic but the idea is good however. it says The twins of vincent and vic are coming to LA to avenge their brothers killers. it would be a stupid movie because The guy that killed Vic Vega was Mr Orange and Mr Orange was shot by nice guy eddie. and bruce willis killed vincent…it would be really pointless two brothers chasing after one man. woulnd’t u say
