Kung Fu Rumors Coming Back
With GRINDHOUSE officially hitting theaters on Friday, its inevitable that rumors of QT’s next film start to fly. Its never really clear from the articles whether Tarantino is committing to making the films it appears that he is, or if the writers are just picking and choosing sentences that fit the mold of what they want him to make next. This next rumor probably falls into the latter category:
Quentin Tarantino to Remake Classic Chinese Kungfu Movie.
I’m pretty sure this is just a re-hash of something QT said back in 2003, but we just don’t know enough yet.

Im pretty sure that QT will be doing his kung fu film for the next Grindhouse double feature.
But hopefully Inglorious Bastards will be coming up next.

He just kinda threw that out in an interview recently. It wasn’t an announcement of any kind whatsoever, just a musing. Artists tend to have dozens of ideas for projects they just don’t have time for and it’s what they tend to talk about. I think all Tarantino’s unmade movies come from musings during interviews. I mean, he’s never really announced that he was gonna make Vega Brothers, there was no official announcement for the animated Kill Bill prequels, etc. The only thing he technically announced recently was Grindhouse.

O My God….I couldn’t ask for anything better than this. The scenes with Pai Mei in Vol. 2 were some of the best I have ever seen in ANY kung fu movie. Also, the fight scene at the end of vol. 1 still gives me goosebumps. Tarantino can singlehandedly bring these movies back if he wants. No offense to modern Martial art’s flicks that have been reduced to either period pieces where people float on top of water, or techno induced modern action movies. Knowing Tarantino he’ll probably bring back some old school cats to star in the film. Gordon Liu for sure, and maybe even Jackie Chan will take a pay cut and be a part of a cult film. Just the news of it is great though, I’m glad people are talking about it.

QT also said he wants to do a Good Ol Boy film like White Lightning and a few Spaghetti Westerns before he retires. So at least that gives an idea of what he’s interested in.
