Uh-oh, the Germans are angry with Tarantino about Inglorious Bastards.
Should Quentin be banned from making a movie dealing with the holocaust.
And more hand-wringing about the script and an insane comment that “Tarantino was attempting to upstage Tom Cruise’s controversial film Valkyrie.”

The Germans will forever be touchy about anything WWII and I can’t say I blame them. There’s a lot of artistic license in this film, but the Nazis were the fucking lowest of fiends and that, my friends, is factual.

Can everyone just simmer down about the “awful” cast? I’ve only been visiting this site for a few days and I can’t believe how many people think they know what makes a good Tarantino movie more than Quentin Tarantino. How about we give QT a little credit and wait until his movie is at least filmed before we write it off as terrible? If you had told me years ago that you were going to give John Travolta a prominent role in a cool crime movie, I would’ve assumed you were snorting heroin. One of the reasons to like QT is his fearless casting choices. Give the movie a chance!

I will always support QT no matter what films he makes. I will pay my ticket and watch the film. On the other hand I have seen what bad casting does to even QT films. “Death Proof” is a good example. Most the actors were unbearable. All the girls just mimicked QT’s speech patterns. It was like a bunch of cheap QT knock offs babbling. I won’t even go into Eli Roth. Kurt Russel was one of the only good actors in the film. He actually made a character instead of just memorizing dialogue.

Well now Simon Pegg is out of this too due to scheduling conflict. Add his name to Tim Roth and Adam Sandler as awesome actors who now can’t be in the film because QT feels he has to show the film at Cannes for some reason. He should just delay the film and get those 3 actors back. I know the movie will still be great but this kinda sucks.

eli roth in death proof?! that was one of the funiest and best cameos in a tarantino film! he delivers lines perfectly and will be perfect for this role.And who cares if QT’s first choices are not available. David Carradine was not QT’s first choice in kill bill and now i couldn’t see an actor better suited for it.
Come on Quentin How bout Christopher Walken as a german!

I figured QT wanted a young German for the jew hunter.I can see Walken definately fitting into this role. What young actors could play the JH? I think his first choice of Decaprio would indicate he wants A known actors for this role

I wonder if these people even read the script or have any idea what the movie is about, or if they’re just getting offended because getting offended is a hell of a lot of fun and what you’re supposed to do when you live in LA: Act like a full-on retard one hundred percent of the time.
There are a few good German characters, and even a German soldier who is given sympathy. And even if there weren’t… uh, it’s a war movie.

Words cannot express how moronic a statement that is. Congratulations Cameron for making a fool of yourself.
As for you Gman, a good script like Inglorious can be ruined by a bad cast. Death Proof is proof enough.

Death Proof didn’t have a bad cast, far from it. Many of them proved me wrong especially the one playing Butterfly who was dreadful in CSI: New York.
Sydney Poitier, Rosario Dawson, Tracie Thoms etc. were really good. Just as good as Reservoir Dog’s cast only with all women gang. Kurt Russell was still the best even though I wished the girls would nail his ass, as they did so the movie didn’t disapoint. Everyone just expected too much. It was a slasher film, thats it. It is better than most of the same genre and original in the way it implemented cars and chases to the mix.
These are the movies QT always liked to do. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction were just first steps. If he could have done Kill Bill first he would have done that (and if he had made that script first) because those movies are the ones he wants to do, not Pulp Fiction 2 etc. which every fucking dude keeps saying he should do. He isn’t gonna make the same movie twice even if it isn’t a sequal.
This war movie is gonna be totally different from all other stuff he’s done and it’s still gonna be classic QT so don’t whine, if you don’t like him and his recent movies then you don’t. Don’t call his fans fan boys ‘cos we aren’t. I can honestly say I have never been disapointed on what Tarantino has done, not even Four Rooms segment.
I will confess that the cast of IB doesn’t sound as good as the original Maddsen, Roth combo…

I can’t really speak to the quality of the cast in Death Proof. It certainly wasn’t my favorite QT movie, but I’m giving QT the benefit of the doubt and assuming that I’m just not really into the low-budget, shock-and-sensation grindhouse movie scene. I respect his decision to tackle his favorite genres, even if it won’t strike me the same way as Reservoir Dogs did. I’m with the 11th post (anonymous?) in saying that I have never been truly disappointed in QT’s work and I’m totally fine with his winding journey through Cinema 101. He’s putting together his cast, so even if they’re not his first choices, they’ll probably give him what he’s looking for.

I figure Tarantino’s goal must be to take a bunch of young actors we don’t typically see as tough guys and prove that they could play tough guys if they still made tough guy movies. Who knows, maybe Brad Pitt CAN be as cool as Lee Marvin if he has the right material?

I’m from Germany and believe me, there is no one upset by the Script of Tarantino, for this you have to wait for the premiere of the flic, but to be honest everyone who is upset by this Script did not understand it. There is nothing to be upset about, because it is not an historic picture, it’s more like Tarantinos Comic adaption of trashy World War II movies or comics.
On the other hand, of cause we will always be touchy about World War II, because it doesn’t matter where you go, germans will be always the “nazis.” Unfortunatly there is no such name for the americans. Just watch the news and you will see the blood on the hands of your people aswell. If this is not enough for you, then go back in history and you will find more.
Now enough with the stress, because this is not the right place for a discussion like this one and we should better try to look for a better future than to deal with the horrible mistakes of the past. Just look out for the movie. I can’t wait for it.

You should look after some german sources that are telling that the Germans are angry with tarantino because of inglorious bastards, you will NOT find anything.
Fact is, it isn’t true that the germans are angry with QT. Almost every german news magazine has reported about inglorious bastards in a very forward looking way.
It is just wrong. British press is telling lies, like always.

Watch out for the Kate Connolly article. She actually blows the final scene for those of us who would like to experience a Tarantino film without knowing what’s coming. She sneaks it in there with no warning just to make sure she blows it for as many fans as possible. She has such distain for filmmaking that she doesn’t understand, to the point of feeling as though her beloved Germans are somehow being demonized by this film, that she actually stoops so absolutely low as to try to ruin the last scene for anyone unlucky enough to come across her drivel. I am so outraged by this disgusting and passive-agressive stunt that I am beside myself. These “writers” should really be taken to task for this kind of bullshit. What an angry, ridiculous bitch.
