About the last movie of Quentin Tarantino that I liked was Pulp Fiction. Sadly, Inglorious Basterds is so horrible for so many reasons. One, the history it purports is all false barring the names of the German high command. It’s portrayal of Germans as essentially all psychopathic is as racist as the racism it seeks to dispel. And then, to top it off, it supports psychopathy as an acceptable form as long as the psychopaths are _our_ psychopaths. The popularity of this movie validates my contention that most people, believing they are “rational” actually have only a slosh of cartoons in their heads provided, along with other bad sources, by such high-school drop out luminaries as Tarantino, from which to derive their “reasoning.” Inglorious Basterds should be banned just like the Holocaust revisionists have been banned.

You haters are crazy. Tarantino is a film genious and by far one of the best directors EVER. He has a mind like no other and is praised for it, as he should be.

What is is with people talking about the historical accuracy of Inglourious Basterds?!?! For god’s sake, understand what the man is doing! It’s NOT a documentary, he’s telling you THIS IS NOT REAL. The power of cinema to re-invent??? Get the metaphor at the end! This is a much cleverer film people think it is. Get a grip. Watch some old films, gain some knowledge, open minds, be quiet.

Would never think of comparing a movie like “Inglorious Bastards” with history, as it is, as already remarked many times a “fictional story”.
Still I can’t say that I would say that “Inglorious Bastards” is a good movie. I wouldn’t even call it a movie at all, as it more or less lacks the main aspect of a good movie, that is a story as such.
“Inglorious Bastards” is, as so many Tarrantino films are, more or less a compilation of scenes. I have to admit there are many good dialogues and lots of funny scenes, but there is really no story to them. Over the lenght this makes “inglorious Bastards” very boring and unsatisfying.
To me it’s a miracle that so many otherwise good moviecritics are so lyrical over something like “Inglorious Bastards”

Tarantino has not sold out and this movie proves it. the dialogue was suspenseful and paced and the action was intense in the best way. this is one of tarantino’s best, up there with reservoir dogs and pulp fiction. keep it up QT!

Great movie, Great Brad Pitt…..Not too many directors can mix gore(especially the scalping of those dirty Germans) with some comedy relief…I thought the musical score was fantasic and Bravo for Tarantino and all involved…

@ Matt sorry Dude. How can one be so agressive. Seems like you are quite immature in your behaviour.
Sorry that I don’t belong to the people who takes every movie Tarantino as granted to be a masterpiece. Loved Reservoire Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Both movies which prove and highlighten Tarantinos strenghts. Namely strong and witty dialogues. As stated above Inglourious Bastards has those as well, but due to the lacking of a real story the dialogues stand more or less alone in sequences, giving the movie – in my opinion – a quite shattered and inconsistent feeling.
Having said this, I have to say that Tarantino is a strong director which hopefully in the future will make more movies that benefit from his strong writting skills.

I saw the movie last night…..I recognize Tarrantino s love affiar with movies and there is the homage to movies of the Weimar and Nazi eras. OK, very well done.
And Tarantino has his trademarks, biting dialogue, lots of violence and comedy that are mixed in unpredictable amounts. OK, that Tarantino, thats why we see his films.
And we all know that if you put something in a recipe that is completely wrong, what is cooked is bad. And this movie was just flat out bad.
There are some film genres that just dont lend themselves to a director s particular vision…if it is too far off and I beleive one of them is the historical period movie.
Both Jack Benny and Mel Brooks made To Be or Not To Be, it was clearly comedy that maanged to poke fun at the monstrous Third Reich.
But, Tarantino has no subtlety or deft touch and both the tragedy and the comedy in this movie is a very bad stew (returning to my recipe analogy).
Its a fantasy film, but set in a specific time and place with attention paid to many things expected in a period movie, costumes, cars architecture, armament, etc. And there is this jarring juxtaposiiton of characters dressed perfectly as SS colonels or French movie theater owners saying Tarantino s dialogue that is so completley tone deaf to the period.
I might compare IB to Coppola s Marie Antoinette, sumptuously costumed and photographed, fabulous sets, etc, but music and dialogue that is completely wrong.
A director can make their personal vision thee centerpiece of any movie, but for the historical period movie, its a enormous risk. In my opinion, Tarantino was way way off.
