These kind of articles just kill me. Its a movie. Its not glorifying slavery, the slave is the main character and he seeks revenge for the horrors visited upon him. How does that theme generate race concerns? I think the author here is perhaps engaged in exactly the sort of subtle racism that he worries Tarantino will be accused of. The subtle racism of low expectations. People should be allowed to talk about slavery, make movies about slavery in ways that go beyond a 2 hour apology filled with white guilt. Its entertainment. If folks can stop looking to be offended for 2 hours, they might actually be entertained.
