Django Unchained got yanked in China. Its unclear whether this is a censorship move, or a ‘technical issue’ as claimed.
“Django Unchained” reportedly cut some violent scenes and had already been cleared by China’s rigorous censors, who generally remove violence, sex and politically edgy content. With such an exacting system, suspension on a film’s premiere date is unusual.
Tian Zaixing, general manager of the Beichen Fortune Center movie theater in the southern city of Kunming, said he could not recall any other imported film being halted on the opening day. The order from China Film Group came in a phone call around 10 a.m., he said.

Some details on the upcoming Django Unchained The Animated Series.
Set immediately after the events detailed in the movie, Django Unchained The Animated Series will focus on the Reconstruction Era events that led up to his becoming the first black state senator in Mississippi. Like the movie, the emphasis will be placed upon the action elements, although the sons of Django and Broomhilda will play a major role in the plot.
Will Smith: Django Not The Lead Character

Will Smith turned down Django Unchained because Django wasn’t the lead character? Really? He thought King Shultz was the lead.
Because lead characters die before the end of the movie all the time. Nice try Will. My guess is the material was way too controversial for Mr. Crossover Appeal.

A review of the Django Unchained Soundtrack.
In some respects Tarantino’s soundtracks perfectly represent his film-making style. They’re a mishmash of influences and seemingly random pieces that somehow fit together to form something completely original. They’re as much tributes as they are a new creation. His knowledge of cinema and music is encyclopaedic and many of the songs he uses in his soundtracks are taken directly from his own collection of vinyl records.
