Death Proof

Grind House Pushed Back

Bloody Disgusting is reporting that the release date for Grind House has been pushed back a couple of months to December 1st, 2006. No suprise there.

Keaton Not In Grind House

It now appears that Michael Keaton will not appear in Grind House as was previously rumored.

QT Looking For Cowgirls

Tarantino is reportedly in Sweden looking for girls to put in one of his Grind House fake trailers – Cowgirls in Sweden.

Keaton In Grindhouse?

Rumors are flying that Michael Keaton has been cast in Grindhouse. Keaton apparently told an autograph seeker that he has a role in the Robert Rodriguez portion of Grindhouse (either called Planet Terror or Project Terror, both titles have been floating around).

I don’t know how reliable this info is and wouldn’t be suprised to find out its untrue – so don’t get your heart set on Mr. Mom just yet.

Grind House Companion Book

Looks like Tarantino and Rodriguez are going to release a companion book to go along with the Grind House movie. Tarantino had planned to do something similar with Kill Bill, and the project ended up being scrapped for unknown reasons – hopefully this one makes it to market.
Here are some details from the Trouble Maker Publishing website. The image below is apparently the proposed book cover. [thanks to Jules for the tip]

Grind House Release Date

Bloody-Disgusting has a report that the Grind House release date is September 22, 2006.

Being over 9 months out, this doesn’t really mean much because there is so much time for stuff to go wrong or to get delayed for competitive reasons.

Grindhouse Casting

There is a possibility that John Jarratt will appear in ‘Grind House’. QT has apparently said that Jarratt is his favorite Aussie actor.

Dark Horizons is reporting that Jarratt has already signed for ‘Grind House’ and may have a role in Inglorious Bastards as well.

Grind House Details, Plus Bastards Info

Tarantino talks Grind House and Inglorious Bastards, with a tidbit in there about Vega Brothers.

As previously reported, Grind House will be in 2 parts. Robert Rodriguez part is called Planet Terror and Tarantino’s section will be Death Proof. Rodriguez film has a zombie theme and Tarantino’s is a slasher film, but with a car.

The film will also feature trailers for fictional movies:

“That’s one of the things we’re looking the most forward to, shooting the phony trailers that will play in between the movies. I’m working out my blaxploitation trailer, and possibly a kung-fu trailer, a sexploitation trailer, a spaghetti-western trailer. I just need to kind of work them out a little bit. I’m just getting them down there, but I think for sure I’m going to do the sexploitation trailer, which is called Cowgirls in Sweden. “

As for Inglorious Bastards, here’s what QT had to say:

…will probably be the next thing I do after I finish Grind House. That will be my next big Mount Everest, climb-the-mountain kind of project.

I’ve got a big portion of it done. I’ve been waiting for all the Kill Bill stuff to be over with, and then to maybe chill on it a little bit, and then [get] ready to finish writing it. … I have like five years of writing behind me now, and I just need to add one more year to it.

Rodriguez Details Grind House

Robert Rodriguez talked to MTV about the progress on Grind House. There is a treasure trove of little tidbits planned for this movie in the ariticle – make sure you check it out.

The Texas-born filmmaker revealed that he’s currently holed up at Tarantino’s Los Angeles abode, and they’re working both together and separately. “I’m at his house now writing it,” Rodriguez said of the film that they expect to shoot “probably in the fall … They’re two different movies, but he reads me stuff and I tell him stuff that I do.”

Tarantino To Make ‘Grind House’

Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are going to write and direct a horror film called Grind House.

Miramax Films golden children Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are teaming up to make a film for the new company established by the studio’s founders, Bob and Harvey Weinstein.
Tarantino and Rodriguez will each write and direct a 60-minute horror film, and the two films will be packaged under the title ‘Grind House’, which is planned for a spring 2006 release through the Weinstein Co.

Tarantino says that this could be the first in a series of films. No official word on what this does to the timeline for getting Inglorious Bastards finished – but I smell a delay.
