Tarantino and Johnny Knoxville?
Sep 19th
Afraid so – though I’m actually a fan of Knoxville’s. But it appears that Tarantino is set to be a producer of ‘The Secret Life of Daltry Calhoun’, which stars Johnny Knoxville. Here’s the gist:
Black comedy Daltry Calhoun, set in Tennessee, will find Knoxville playing a one-time golf mogul who works to maintain his failing business when his 14-year-old daughter, a talented musician whom he hasn’t seen in years, comes to live with him.
Juliette Lewis will play Knoxville’s character’s love interest, with Elizabeth Banks, David Koechner, and Kick Gurry also on board. Sean Penn was formerly attached to the starring role.
Sin City Trailer
Sep 14th
Movie-List has uploaded a very cool Sin City trailer from Comic Con. Its in a big format and is quite long. Looks very interesting.
Hero Wins Box Office
Aug 30th
Well, whether you agree with the marketing tactic behind the ‘Quentin Tarantino Presents’ tag line or not, it seems to have worked as Hero won the weekend with just under $18 million.
Tarantino In New Muppet Movie
Aug 24th
I find it strange enough that ABC is going to make a TV movie with the Muppets based on The Wizard Of Oz, but adding into the mix that Quentin has a cameo role in it, and its just too much to digest. [thanks to reader Aly for sending in this link]
As the action is about to begin, the film cuts to Tarantino pitching to Kermit how the scene should be done — a cameo written specifically for the “Kill Bill” director.
Quentin Tarantino Presents ‘Hero’
Aug 13th
The
trailer for ‘Hero’ has been released, and looks pretty good. Hero [IMDB] is a Jet Li movie thats actually a couple of years old that Miramax has picked up for US distribution.
The reason I mention it here is that they are actually promoting the movie by making it ‘presented by Quentin Tarantino’ – in some lame attempt to capitalize on the vague similarities of this film with Kill Bill.
The movie itself looks decent enough, I’m just not a big fan of this kind of forced cross-promotion.
UPDATE: The poster for Hero is now available.
Sin City Panel
Aug 4th
JoBlo has a pretty big article up based on a Sin City panel they attended at Comic-Con 2004. For those of you that may not know, Tarantino is ‘co-director’ of this film with Robert Rodriguez, though he only directed one scene.
Big version of the posters for the film can be found here.
