QT Presents: Hostel

The teaser trailer for 'Hostel' has been released. This is another one of the 'Quentin Tarantino presents...' type movies that he didn't have anything to do with, but liked enough to lend his name in the hopes of getting the film more attention that it otherwise would have.

This movie looks so badass, put SAW to shame.

Problem is, SAW came first. That makes this one a ripoff.

QT read the script and helped Eli polish it up, he didnt just throw his name on it. Why the negativity towards QT helping other filmmakers out? I dont get it.

[8] On Nov-01-2005, Steve wrote:

I wouldn't call it negative, more cynical. QT's name is the forefront of the poster, more so than the actual filmmaker. That's a heck of a lot of credit for polishing.

[9] On Nov-02-2005, Pete wrote:

When QT did his Rolling Thunder Pictures DVD releases his name was all over the films. Did that bother me? No because QT was helping bring attention to the films/filmmakers. If Eli didnt want QTs help, he'd say so. If I was in his spot Id have no problem with that. Id look at it as a HUGE favor. Which it def is.

[10] On Nov-02-2005, Pete wrote:

What about all the 80s Zemeckis/Dante/Donner films with "Steven Spielberg Presents" on the front of them?. Same thing guys. Wake up.

When you get a guy like Quentin Tarantino and he offers to put his name on a movie poster or video box cover, if you have any brains at all youd say: YES! THANK YOU!

btw guys, i said "why...?" to the short film that that guy posted.

[13] On Nov-02-2005, Steve wrote:

I'm not saying that QT is doing anything wrong, it's just a little silly. Why not have a Nirvana label on the CD cover of some lesser known band?

[14] On Nov-03-2005, Matt wrote:

I belive cover bands do that...

[15] On Nov-03-2005, Mick wrote:

I would have to agree that all Tarantino is doing is trying to get the film some attention in order to help a young filmaker out. Its not silly its smart, because u get a bunch of people like me who wil go see anything that QT had anything to do with.

A bunch of people like you, a group I would call 'suckers'

[17] On Nov-04-2005, Pete wrote:

Another good example of QT helping other filmmakers out is his championing Italian genre directors like Fernando DiLeo, Umberto Lenzi, Stelvio Massi and others. I have several Region 2 DVDs where QT is thanked by the DVD producers for getting the films more attention. No, his name isnt on the DVD covers either. So this BS about QT taking credit for movies by other filmmakers is such BS. Its just another petty argument for people who arent into movies so much as the stupid gossip that goes on in the biz. QT LOVES FILM and thats why he has his names on DVD covers and Film posters.

Holy shit, maybe I'm just in a good mood today but jmart32 that video was some of the funniest shit i've seen in awhile. kids waving around golf club swords and making sound effects shouldn't be as funny as it is.

Thanx so much Rob. I'm trying everywhere I can to get ppl to see it. I really thought it was pretty funny, especially to Tarantino fans. And to the ppl that didn't like it, f*** u.Haha jk. I don't care if you didnt like it, but I just wanted to know about the comment about the kindergarden teacher, I didn't really get that but oh well. But yeah I would love more comments and feedback, so everyone start watching it! And also give me some ideas to parody/make sumthing.

Hostel is going to be an unbelievable film. Eli Roth definitley knows what he is doing. He's an amazing director and will continue to direct great films.

I'm pickin up on some hostility in here. This is a site about a movie. All movies are good in there own way. Give this one a chance, c'mon its Quentin for all that is still good.

Looks like an alright movie.Cant say good or bad till I see it though .I liked Cabin Fever, and Eli Roth seems like a good up and coming director.

As far as this being a "rip-off" of Saw,
One could argue that Saw is just a rip-off of Cube. Its irrelevant.

[31] On Nov-29-2005, joe wrote:

fuck saw...the second one had a crapy ending..maybe they can not fuck up this movie and it may be better. oh yeah

screw saw in the buttocks....this movie looks better..+saw 2 ended very gay..."ohhh im his apretentice!" lame....

[33] On Dec-02-2005, Desiree wrote:

Why is everyone saying that SAW came out first?
Really SAW may of been one of the first movies like this but this is so different, saw is about teaching that life is worth living!
HOSTEL has to do with paying people to torture people, thats so WAYYYY DIFFERENT!!! and yeah SAW is a sweet movie and so will this be...so really, their both amazing and SAW will never be put to shame it is one of the most original movies out there, and so is HOSTEL, so really if you think this movie is just like saw I DARE YOIU ALL TO MAKE UP MOVIES LIKE THIS, REALLY I BET NOT ONE OF YOU WOULD EVER BE ABLE TO COME UP WITH THEMES LIKE THIS...
so all you people are liek OHH ITS LIKE SAW, i dare you to do even better..OH WAIT YOU CAN'T

[34] On Dec-06-2005, jmart32 wrote:

Please explain to me how you are in any way an expert in films. Better yet, explain to me how you have any knowledge what so ever. You're telling me Saw is the most original film out there? It's about a sick sadisdic maniac who enjoys torturing people. Wow, never heard of it before.

[35] On Dec-21-2005, xx wrote:

It's ridiculous to say that Hostel is just like Saw, as although the scripts are both laced with sadism, their plots are entirely different. Saw is about a guy who likes to put people in predicaments and watch them hack themselves up or kill other people to get out of them. Hostel is about people sick enough to pay a lot of money for the opportunity to torture and kill others, AND the kicker is that it is based on actual events, which gives the movie more meaning. Hostel is no more like Saw than Blade is like Dracula.

[36] On Jan-22-2006, Marc wrote:

You are all f****** stupid. I've seen all three films mentioned(Saw, SawII, and Hostel) and Saw or Saw II have NOTHING in common with Hostel. Completely different ideas alltogeather. First, about Hostel and QT. If a genious mind like QT put anything into a movie, then I want to know about it. It's f****** QT for Christ's sake. If he has any input on a movie then you know it's worth watching so what's the big deal. Now about the "Nirvana" thing, bands that feature other bands on the road will come out with cd's(such as the one I own) that say Dope presented by Kid Rock. So shut up.
Now about Saw and SawII. Saw was a imensley original film, there is no argueing that so please bring it if you got it. Yes, it's about a sadistic guy that watches people torture themselves, but come on you pussy's we've been threw Freddy and Jason. How do you get more sadistic then that?
Lastly, Saw II I thought was a good movie with an awesome amount of twists. Was it as good as Saw....no, but they did a damn good job with what they are being compared too(Saw). The ending I thought was very good cause the point is to leave it open for future Saw's to come out, and honestly I see no problem with that. That's how legend's are written, and I love a continuing story, because it always leaves you wondering "what's next".

QUENTIN TARANTINO PRESENTS...
THIS MESSAGE FROM STEVE.
Ever think the company distributing the movie might have something to do with all the Quentin branding for the film. Puts butts in seats and cash in their pockets.. Money kids, money. But If that's what it takes to get great movies like made and in our cinemas and homes instead of the benign homogenised crap they normally try to feed us. So be it! I wish he could present my funeral when i die... a few people may turn up.

People who voluntarily watch this sick filth need psychiatric help. You really should ask yourselves what happened in between being born innocent babies, and turning into neurotic people who actually WANT to see other people being tortured. (Albeit in a film).
The fact that anybody at all thinks Taranteeny has any talent whatsoever is an indictment on the modern world. Which of his films have moved anybody to tears? Which of his films have made anybody change their life to make the world a better place?
You all need psychiatric help.

I agree with the marc guy, any quentin tarantino film is worth watching, you can't deny it hes a genius at what he does and he does it so brilliantly that i'm not sure whether i should go see this film or not it looks so scary and gruesome but i know its by this amazing dude QT and i'd rather be totaly petrified for weeks than miss out on another masterpeice! And come on the kill bills were pretty brutal but i still think theyre awesome cos theyre done in such a amazing style and the end of volume 2 was pretty sad i think somebody could of cried at that. me n my friends watch those films wenever were together we all love them and i think for a film to be appriciated so much by a group of young teenagers and 2 silence them completely in the way it does has gotta deserve some credit.

this movie has done some really bad things to people in the cinemas (making them feel ill because off how bad it is) paramedics having to assist patients out of the cinema. if a director like ELI & QT can produce such films jus think about the directors 2 be what will the bring the the screen?
