Sly Stallone Interested In Inglorious Bastards
The old rumor that Sly Stallone will be Inglorious Bastards is back again with Stallone saying that he'd love to do the film. [thanks to everybody who sent this in]
Stallone also claims that he passed up the chance to play a role in Grind House (I assume the role that Kurt Russell ultimately got) because of some scheduling conflicts.
Back to this Inglorious Bastards rumor with Stallone. I can see it happening, but I sure hope it doesn't. I really, really dislike Stallone and think he may be the worst possible choice to appear in a Tarantino film. The man literally can't pronounce words right, how the heck is he going to be able to deliver Tarantino-esque dialogue. So lets all pray for more scheduling conflicts from Sly.
UPDATE: LatinoReview.com is reporting that Stallone is a "lock" for Inglorious Bastards.

I'd LOVE to see him get a part in Bastards because knowing QT he would give him a kickass role that would totally highlight his talents.
I'm going to see Rocky Balboa too. I love those films!

Can someone tell me why these old rumors keep on popping in and out like this?! Anyway ok... i guess it's a nice idea. Oh who am i kidding? No I don't, I really don't care much of Stallone anymore...

Come on Quentin is going to be 70 when he finally gets around to making this movie and Sly will be dead Why are we even talking about this?

Because, QT is doing IB after Grindhouse and Stallone was just saying recently he'd love to work with QT. Doesnt mean its going to happen.
At least its not another Vega Brothers rumor.

Also, Sly can speak just fine. Watch his other movies BESIDES ROCKY. Thats just a persona he made up. He could do QTs dialogue just as good as any other actor out there.

did anyone else read the detail about IB having a 600 page script? that's incredible!

It doesn't matter if Sly is in the flick or not. QT always picks the best actors to play his character. I trust QT's skills as a director to get the best performances.

Sly was at the Sunday/Monday(I forget which) night football game in Philly last week, and he couldn't talk very well then either.

First of all we don't know anything about the script. Only the fact that QT has shown some interest in Sly, so obviously he's developing a character that Sly might be able to fit into.
Second, Sly might have a slight speech impediment, but this is nothing new to any of us. Again you think QT doesn't know this?!
Third, his acting skills in Copland were great, and his action movies, although corny to an extent, can be really cool if you don't take them so seriously.
Bottomline: I really do hope QT puts him the movie. I can totally see Sly as a scarred up, tired, old sargeant just barking orders and s**t at people while setting off a machine gun. Not sure about the main role for Sly though (Although Madsen is prolly going to be it)
Let's remember how QT is known to bring out the best in actors. Kurt Russel isn't the greatest actor in the world, but I think QT will the make the most out of him. Sly is not different. Remember everyone had forgot about Travolta, who would have thought Travolta could be that good of a hitman?

Its all about the role. If the role is perfect for Sly, he'll be golden in it.

Exactly. I don't think we've yet to see Tarantino make a mistake in casting, it's one of his strongest points as a director. If he wants the brilliant Frankenstein like presence of Stallone, I'm sure it's because nobody could do it quite like Sly.
[14] On Dec-09-2006, Pete wrote:
Sly might not even be right for any of the characters, all I'm saying is, if QT actually had the right part for him, why the hell not? It would be really cool imo.

Well, if Rocky Balboa (the movie) doesn't bring Sly back into the limelight, this role certainly would.
Personally I've always liked Stallone's acting. Sometimes you've just gotta dumb your head down.

I hope stallone is not the star, i hop he is more like animalmother in Full metal jacket. Cause i think Stallone doenst have that star chemistry anymore.

Theres going to be a group of guys in the film, like in Reservoir Dogs. There wont be just one star. Also, IB isnt going to be like Full Metal Jacket. Its not going to be some serious statement about war, its gonna be a men on a mission-adventure war film.

Well Jesus M is definetly right about that. His movies do help raise the cast members reputaion in a way, such as Pulp Fiction. Also Travolta was a sucess with it,because it helped revive his career. If a movie can have such a great impact on celebs like that, imagine what it might do for Sly.
I don't mean to be harsh on the dude like that, but that's how I saw i it. That persona he has as some action-hero seemed to be gettin' too old, and people might get dislike of the fact that his roles are too repetitive. But oh well...
So thanks again M, i completly forgot about that!

Ok I'm convinced. Of what, I don't know.
[21] On Dec-10-2006, Pete wrote:
The only clue that Sly MIGHT be in Bastards is the fact he said he wanted to do Death Proof, but couldnt because of the Rocky/Rambo sequels. So, QT MIGHT call him back up for a part in IB.
Theres certainly no solid news that he is being cast in it yet. So forget Latino Review.

Hey Pete don't mind him. I think Quentin Tarantino is a pretty decent guy, not just as a director, but as a person. He's one of those men who are, well... different.
Now please, back to topic.

I don't know why you dislike Stallone, He can act, and very well. I think he is quite underrated as an actor. Just watch Copland, he was brilliant in that. And This film would suit him very much I think.

You'll probably would say the same when Q casted Willes and Travolta in Pulp Fiction, it's a bit ignorant to think that Tarantino can't bring Stallone to a higher level...

I sure hope Sly ends up in Inglorious Bastards. He was considered for the role of Louis in Jackie Brown, the role that eventually went to Robert Deniro, and for Grindhouse. He has just had a major comeback with Rocky Balboa, and Rambo on the way.
In the other words, Sly is the man!
It would be cool if Sly, Arnie, and Bruce team up for Bastards. The collaboration would result in the biggest movie of the year the movie is released in.
Please QT, cast Sly!!!
