Who cares about winning? Being selected is truly an honor (that's no cliche). Viewing the selected films at Cannes is really not about a horse race. It's about quality world cinema (recently the screening of blockbusters -not on any of the prize awards jury lists- is really a concession to not ignore popular mass movies.)
Francis Coppola received the Palm D'or twice: for "The Conversation", and "Apocalypse Now" (shared with another film I don't recall).
Coppola and Tarantino each were President of the Jury, Feature Films.
