Death Proof To Cannes

Not suprisingly, Tarantino is taking Death Proof to the Cannes Film Festival.

I'm just hoping that Michael Moore doesn't win again.

The Grindhouse Double Feature was fun, but I'm a QT fan first and foremost and his film def can hold its own. Its also the better film out of the two. I say GO GET EM QT!!

Michael Moore's "Sicko" is being screened, but it is not in any of the prize competitions.

Well thanks for that Colin - I'm sure he'll get his Academy Award for it anyway.

Well, I have no problem with Sicko winning awards if it's as good as Bowling for Columbine, but if it's more like Farhenheit, then bah!

Well, Bowling was more mature than Fahrenheit, although they were both entertaining. I wonder what people will think of the slowness of the film though. Hopefully he had a few action bits laying around his editing room to throw into the longer version. Nevertheless, it was still a great movie, just not a "Tarantino Great" movie.

If its a great movie and Tarantino made it how is it not Tarantino Great? lol.

lol. Pulp Fiction vs Death Proof, I think I'll take a royale with cheese any day.

Cannes is a sham just like the Oscars. Elephant won for god sakes.

Cannes does have a lot more prestige than the oscars, despite the occassional silly winner the grand prize: Fahrenheit 911 and Wind that shakes the barley for instance.

It should also be noted that Fahrenheit 911 won the year QT was the head judge.

As a longtime QT fan, I really dont compare and contrast his films anymore. I take each one for what it is at the time it was made. Pulp Fiction isnt Death Proof and Death Proof isnt Pulp Fiction. So what? I can love them both equally for what they contain and the different cool aspects in both.

I rented Elephant because I won an award at Cannes. I can't think of the last time I bailed on a movie, but... I've lost a lot of respect for Cannes. As for F-451, I was pissed it won while QT was on the bench. But I believe I read somewhere that QT was arguing for Old Boy; that gives me a little comfort.

Sry, I didn't win an award. Change to "because it won an award..."

This is a QT quote: "It was the best film we saw."
He was referring to Fahrenheit 911.

Qt loved Fahrenheit 911, so did I. Listen to his speecb. He talks about forgetting all the politics involved, Fahrenheit 911 is just the best film of the year.
