I've read tons of spoilers - going all the way back to the script. Just the hazards of running the site.

To the person who sent that hate mail:
You think QT is the only director making violent movies ?! Guess what: he is not the only one. Obviously you can't figure out the difference between fiction and reality. No one is forcing you to watch QT, or any other, movies... So if you don't wanna see it, don't watch it !! We live in a democracy, you know. I guess you're no movie person at all: dramas = too dramatic, romance = too romantic, comedy = too funny, based on true events = too real, SF = too surreal, animation = too childish, etc., for you. Get a life instead of wasting anergy on someone/thing you don't like. Everyone is in title to watch/read/etc. whatever he/she wants.

huge QT fan

I love how his films expose the human nature as never seen before, perfectly imperfect. Quentin's characters are my favorite part, all incredibly unique. I love his films, I love the art work behind them, I love the dialouge, and I love how he has something to say when no one else will. I mean, who else has had big enough balls to kill off Hitler in a film when that's not "historically correct", using characters just as fuckin crazy as Hitler himself (as any common character wouldn't be able to handle the task. I love the humour in his films. I haven't been able to stop speaking italian with a texan accent since I've seen the film.

Actually, it's a Tennessee accent. He's from Maynard Tennessee :P Either way, I agree, although he is a bit campy and cliche, that's the point of it. Everyone tries to be serious and historically accurate, while the film has some of the serious tension of most war films, there's this odd twist to it that can only be described as Tarantino. Maybe that's why it's called Inglourious Basterds....you know how it should be spelled at, but you're surprised and delighted that it's better than you thought.

This was pure genius. I'm glad Quentin took the extra time to perfect it, since the original form was much longer. In the beginning, it had the feel of a documentary, I felt like I was watching old reels from the war era, then it just got better and better. I was actually surprised that the Basterds were introduced so late in the film, but they had the correct amount of impact since we learned the background for his characters first. The Jew Hunter was so disturbing, I had to step back and examine my feelings: fanatics are often morally reprehensible & don't see their actions as wrong or immoral. Wuttke as the Fuhrer was so hilarious that I missed whether or not Marcel, Shoshana's lover, died. Were they planning to die there or get away?

I find it funny (in reference to post #3), that people born and raised (or at least living) in America have no idea that their country is in no way a democracy. Its laws do not even begin to resemble one. It is very clearly a Republic, down to the letter. Thank you for your ignorance.

That said, QT is a genius, whether you perceive him as righteous, or evil. Appreciate the best in people even when you disagree with their ideology. I have yet to see Bastards, but I can promise you I will love QT forever.
