What Comic Book Movie Would You Love To See Q.T. Make?

Tarantino once said (and I am paraphrasing here) he would never do a comic (or was it superhero?) movie because of all the critical crap and b.s. that comes from your typical fanboy. Regardless, wouldn't it be great to see a Tarantino-esque PUNISHER film? Or perhaps his take on PREACHER? So the question of the day is what Comic Book movie would you like to see Q.T. take on? Here a few of the top choices, but feel free to toss in one of your own.

PUNISHER
PREACHER
100 BULLETS
STRAY BULLETS
WOLVERINE
SUPERMAN
CAPTAIN AMERICA
JUSTICE LEAGUE
GHOST RIDER
CRIMINAL
UNKNOWN SOLDIER
MAGNUS ROBOT FIGHTER

To be honest, none, i don't know if it's me, but i don't like movies that aren't original
Examples
Sure Transformers are fucking awesome but a transformers movie isn't a 'good' movie, it's neat but it's not a 'good' movie, it can't be because it's already an idea that existed before cinema.

I don't know, it's really rare that i enjoy a Marvel movie for being a good cinematic movie.

Don't get me wrong, it's not impossible, i thought Watchman was a really good movie, but most movies that are remakes of comic books or games just become mainstream like transformers and aren't good movies.

If Quentin makes a movie i want it to be a Quentin tarantino movie, ofcourse Jackie Brown wasn't an original idea, but all he did was take that character.

I know we're only speaking hypotheticly but i just wanted to get that out... i really hate it when movies like transformers, or batman (i know i keep using this movie as an example) make alot of money but original movies like Deathproof and Planet Terror don't.

If we look at the past couple years, we got some amazing movies that came out,
There Will Be Blood
No Country For Old Men
Inglourious Basterds (ofcourse)
but sadly these aren't the movies that make money.

And us being Quentin fans know that this is actually a big deal, specially when people like the Weinstein brothers don't want to produce movies that aren't going to make that much money.

Sadly cinema is dyeing and it hurts me all the time, hopefully it changes in the next 5 years, i think alot of young aspiring film makers (like myself) will bring something fresh, or atleast remind us of what good movies are like.

I TOTALLY WENT OFF TOPIC!!! lol

I think a Preacher movie by Quentin would be freaking epic.

Why do people think Inglourous Basterds didn't make a lot of money?

It currently has a worldwide total of 245 million dollars that it made in 39 days.

I'd say thats pretty damn profitable...

Well i know it made alot of money, but it's most likely because of Brad Pitt

This is a pointless topic to discuss. Quentin Tarantino writes his own shit. Hes not gonna stoop to remaking something. Hes too creative and unique to make a Marvel movie. The material is already there for him, and it wouldn't allow him to put a Q spin on anything. I think this should of never been asked in the first place. Its never gonna happen, so whats the point? True Tarantino fans dont want to see him make a comic book movie unless its his own. Thats all i have to say. Pointless thread.

Jerry,
Thank you for making a pointless remark about this pointless thread. I'm glad you feel as if you can speak for all TRUE TARANTINO fans out there but believe me, you don't. Do us all a favor and if you find the thread pointless, don't make a point of posting on the pointless thread. Some of us simply want to see what people think about a certain topic or question. If you don't like the topic or find it pointless please don't waste your or our time by writing that its pointless. Thanks.

Tarantino always talks about Superman, so he'd probably choose that one...If I had the choice though it really would be right up his alley to do Punisher, or how about The Question...the old one, not the chick one. Or maybe even something from one of the villains, like a Joker movie.

QT always say's his FAVORITE comic was the seventies run of MASTER OF KUNG FU, drawn by the awesome Paul Gulacy, written by the amazing Doug Moench. That is what he should do. The story from the old seventies comics but obviously updated. Essentially Bruce Lee thrown into a James Bond film/book.

Mike,
Great call on Hitman. I had completely forgotten about that book. It was one of my favorites from the 1990's. I don't think you could have a better choice for a Tarantino helmed comic book movie than Hitman.

If Tarantino had his way with a comic it would be epic. I could imagine him making a Marvel Knights film featuring Punisher & Daredevil vs The Kingpin.

WTH are you talking about, all Tarantino movies are snippets of old, bizarre, and obscure cinema, put together by an amazing writing. You think Tarantino its "original"? Even he admits his ideas aren't that original.

"I steal from every single movie ever made. If people don't like that, then tough tills, don't go and see it, all right? I steal from everything. Great artists steal, they don't do homages."

* Empire magazine interview, 1994.

Now back to the topic at hand, I'd like to see what he might do with CAPTAIN AMERICA. Coming to think about it maybe at some level one of the BASTERDS is loosely based on the good ol' cap.

yeah i don't think tarantino would do a comic book (i know its already been said) cuz he writes his own stuff, however i would love to see Preacher, specifically a Saint of Killers bio pic, but it'll never happen

I don't get why there isnt the silver surfer on the list, right after the popularity of reservoir dogs quentin apparently wrote a 300 page script for the silver surfer but the studios declined it, he makes numerous placements of the silver surfer amongst his films and has said to be a huge fan, all the other choices seem quite trivial

Out of the listed comic books 100 bullets definitely. But some of my choices would include Rising Stars, Transmetropolitan, The Killing Joke or Wanted (based off the graphic novel instead of just the characters). Wanted just pissed me off. But honestly I think it would be interesting to see Tarantino do a fantasy film. And to be more specific The Dresden Files. The modern day mix with fantasy wouldn't be as far a stretch for him and the TV series of that show is just sad. Tarantino could capture every aspect of that series better than anyone else I can think of. Really curious about the Silver Surfer writing he did considering how against Digital he is. Those are my thoughts.

i think 100 bullets will be perfect for him. I mean think about it, 100 bullets has QT written all over it, sharp dialogue, violence, pop culture references. How can you miss it and 100 bullets was written with that noir, pulp feel. I would watch the movie, just because of the reason QT directed it

If i could suggest one idea for a colossal Quentin Tarantino movie.

Awesome idea.
Maybe Morbius or Heroes for Hire (Power Man and Iron Fist version). Maybe Heroes for Hire with Power Man and Iron Fist as secondary figures while Mysty Knight and Coleen Wing as the main protagonists.
Silver Surfer would be awesome, man I hated the FF 2 movie and would love to see it erased (I really love Kirby and Lee's FF stories and hated to see them tarnished). Maybe an Inhumans movie.
A Secret Seven or Suicide Squad movie would be cool. So would a Cave Carson or Challengers of the Unknown. Something related to Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers of Victory would be great.

I don't like remakes being made as the next guy, but never bothers me to see a new take on it. You'll always have the original to watch over and exclude the remake if it's garbage.

So yeah, The Crow would be nice to see from QT.

I'm a true Tarantino mark. I've been hooked on his films ever since I saw Pulp Fiction. He has a collection of work that is simply outstanding. He's dives into everything, War movie, Kung Fu movie, so why not add a superhero movie to the list. He should direct something from every genre. He talks in high regard of the recent Superman movie. If he did Superman himself, I would love to see him do it as a period peice and not modern. I'd also need to see him stay true to Tarantino form and take it to an R rating. I'm sure the studio wouldn't like that much.
