V3 Partially Online
The re-design is only live on the front page, and even it isn't complete. But, I figured putting it up 85% done would get me motivated to finish it since I don't like people dealing with unfinished product.
If you have any usability issues with the new layout, please take a screenshot of the problem and send me an email with the pic and your browser info. [admin - @ - everythingtarantino - dot - com]

Redesigning EverythingTarantino
I've begun working on a redesign of this site and thought I would solicit the opinions of everybody about it. I'm not planning on a major overhaul of the layout - just some very noticable refinements in the color scheme, font, and size of certain features.
But is there anything that you folks want me to incorporate into the design that isn't already here?
And beyond the design, is there any Tarantino-related content that is missing that you would like me to add? (Four Rooms info is already on my list).

Tarantino's Icon Of The Decade Speech
Empire Magazine has posted a transcript Quentin's acceptance speech from his Icon of the Decade Award. They've also put up an MP3 of the speech if you'd rather listen than read.
Happy Birthday To Us
I missed posting this on our actual anniversary, but January 10th was Everything Tarantino's 2nd anniversary. Thanks to everybody who visits the site.
January Sponsor Love
With the lull in Tarantino news of late, please show some appreciation to our sponsors for this month by checking out their sites.
UPDATE: January is over.

Tarantino Themed Halloween Bash
A bar in downtown Albuquerque is having a Quentin Tarantino themed Halloween night on Saturday. Pretty good idea since Tarantino's characters are typically easily identified by their costumes/clothing. I think if I were going to this, I'd have to dress up as Pai Mei - just so I could insult people all night. I even found some costume instructions for him.
Life Imitates Art
You know your marriage is off to a bad start when your wedding reception is described as "like a scene out of Quentin Tarantino's bloodfest flick Kill Bill". Seems 5 people got shot by a couple of kids during the reception, though none of them were very seriously wounded.
Tarantino In Short Film
Taken right out of our Forum comes this little gem: Dance Me To The End Of Love starring a quite young Quentin Tarantino. At first, I thought this was the music video to the Leonard Cohen song of the same name, but its not. QT looks young in this thing also, but its not dated. Anybody know more about this?
Sony Chiba DVD Collection
I was walking thru Best Buy this past weekend and noticed this Sony Chiba DVD Collection that has Kill Bill themed cover art. I didn't buy it, but the packaging gimmick worked - it made me look twice.
Don't Forget The Forum
Since we are currently in between Tarantino film projects, all the action is in the forum right now.
UPDATE: The forum has been shut down.

$2.98 Kill Bill Posters
AllPosters is having a huge poster sale. Lots and lots of cool stuff is only $2.98, and they include the Kill Bill poster (and the Pulp Fiction poster) you see pictured below. I'm going to pick up this Fight Club poster that I've been looking at for a while now
Everything Tarantino FORUM!
A year and a half after the site first went live, we've finally got a forum! Its nice and plain looking right now, but I'll take care of that over the next few days.
Currently, the forum doesn't require registration (but I'd encourage it) as we may end up requiring it somewhere down the line if the user base gets large and then you won't have to worry about competition for your chosen screen name.

Various Stuff
This is a catch-up post since I've been a bit too busy to post everything that people send me. Better late than never:
Via Emilie direct from France comes a few pics of QT at the Cannes Film Festival:
The Miramax store has some very cool Pulp Fiction bobble head dolls.
XFM Audio interviews with David Carradine, Daryl Hannah, and Michael Madsen.
A long screed on Tarantino and the toilet? Not really sure what its about as I don't have time to read it - but that doessn't mean you don't!
And finally, Brian has a question as to what kind of alcohol Bill was drinking in Kill Bill V2? Anyone know?

Tarantino Auditioning Women?
Accodring to JoBlo, Tarantino is auditioning Kelly Carlson, thought nobody seems to quite know what its for - whether its Inglorious Bastards, Casino Royale, Sin City, Vega Brothers...?

Uma, Ugly On Purpose
This isn't something you see everyday - Uma intentionally wore an ugly outfit to the Oscars.
UMA THURMAN says she deliberately set out to be the worst dressed woman on the Oscar red carpet this year. Claiming that she is fed up of the fashion politics associated with awards ceremonies, the Kill Bill star says she knew her Christian Lacroix outfit would hit the wrong note this year. And it did, with one fashion critic accusing her of sporting the "deranged milkmaid" look. But Uma is unabashed. "Everyone always looks the same," she tells The Sun. "It's so boring. That's when you have to say, 'I will be the worst dressed.' I'm glad it was me they panned. I think I deserve it and I can take it."
Tarantino Talks Piracy
Tarantino says that movie piracy is not a black and white issue for him, noting that he had to buy bootleg copies of some hard to get movies in prep for Kill Bill. He also supports piracy in Communist societies like China, which I was glad to see.

Quentin's Japanese TV Ads
Did you know Tarantino is/was doing television ads in Japan for Perfect TV - a DirecTV clone?

Meeting Quentin At The Mall
One lucky gal gets to find out what its like to hang with Quentin Tarantino at the mall. They even registered for gifts together at a Crate & Barrel.
Tarantino To Guest Judge on 'Idol'
Not what I would have expected from Quentin, but he's apparently a big American Idol fan and is going to get to be a guest judge for 'movie theme night'. The episode was supposed to air Tuesday night, but with President Bush's press conference, I'm not sure when its going to air.

Tarantino's Crush On Uma
Tarantino has such a crush on Uma Thurman its kind of funny to watch:
He revealed they were like a married couple "in every way" during the two years they worked on his epic martial arts two-parter. Speaking at a party in Los Angeles, Tarantino, 40, said: "I'm not saying that we haven't (had sex), and I'm not saying that we have.
"We love each other, but we're almost too close now to be a couple. We had our life together on Kill Bill. It was like a marriage in every way."
QT Is AskMen's Man Of The Week
Quentin Tarantino will be AskMen's Man of the Week on February 8th. I can't link to the article until its officially live (so check back), but I have seen it and its a pretty good Tarantino primer.
UPDATE: The AskMen Tarantino Man of the Week site is now officially live.

Alternate DVD Covers
If you don't like the DVD cover art that came with your Tarantino DVDs - or if you just have a burned version of the disks - you can now download and print some very cool alternative cover art. There's nothing up for Kill Bill yet, but with the proposed look of the DVD, its gonna need it. Here's a list of the alternate covers available:
Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown
Reservoir Dogs
Natural Born Killers

Porn Parodies of Tarantino Films
I ran across a mention of Pulp Friction today and it got me wondering if there were other porn films that had parody titles taken from Tarantino's movies. I've only found three so far. Anybody know of others?
Pulp Friction
From Lust Till Dawn
Natural Born Thrillers

Site Redesign
As you can probably see, I've started the process of redesigning the look of this website. Nearly everything is complete, but you'll still run into the old design on some of the pages as I continue to try and integrate everything.
If you see anything that looks screwey or that you don't like, please leave a comment to this post about it. Make sure to include what browser you are using if its a rendering issue.

Top 40 Filmmakers
On the list of top 40 filmmakers, David Lynch comes in at #1 and Tarantino is a ways down the list at #17. I'm guessing he is down so low only because he hasn't made very many movies - you can't very well be considered a top filmmaker if you don't, well, make films.
Also, E!Online has a list of 20 Things about Kill Bill.

EverythingTarantino.com
If you are reading this, then you've probably notice that we've moved from our former URL to EverythingTarantino.com. With the opening of Kill Bill, the traffic to this site exploded and so we needed a bigger server.
To kick off the new domain, check back Monday for a very cool contest. Miramax has been nice enough to provide me with some Kill Bill posters and Pussy Wagon key chains, so we're gonna give em away.
Make sure you update your bookmarks and/or links to the new site location, and I'll see you on Monday!

Tarantino Would Never Adapt A Comic Book To Film
I'm not sure why this question would even be asked of Quentin - he's not just a director, he's a writer. Why the heck would he suddenly decide to start relying on the work of others when he's been so successful by creating characters and stories all his own. Anyhow, his reasons behind not wanting to adapt a comic to a film are great:
"The reason I'll never do a comic book movie with like, 'The Flash' or something like that is (fuck) those comic book geeks, man. You can't please them. I might do a comic book movie, but I'd come up with my own characters where I'm god and I'm the expert and not you guys. The thing is, film geeks can be your best friend, but man, they can be your worst enemy."FoxNews also has another Kill Bill article with a few quotes from QT.
Tarantino Gets Shot At TV
I originally mentioned this back in June, but Valerie from TRIO was nice enough to send me a reminder that Tarantino's weekend of programming the cable network starts this Sunday, October 5th.
MY TR!O: QUENTIN TARANTINO is a 9-day (Sunday 10/5-Monday 10/13) deep genre festival featuring favorite films from Quentin's personal library. For six nights - Sunday through Friday - we'll run a drive-in-movie-style themed double feature, complete with vintage movie trailers. These films, which Quentin considers hidden gems, will begin and end with commentary from the master himself as he talks about violence in film and much more!If you don't have TRIO on your cable system (like me), you can check out how to get it here. If you are lucky enough to already have TRIO, the whole Tarantino week schedule can be had here. Plan your whole week around Quentin!
Tarantino Soundboard
Need to kill some time? This'll do it for you.
The Definitive Tarantino Soundboard contains the very best quotes from Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown and True Romance. This Flash application lets you listen to all your favorite QT lines, just by clicking on them. No media players needed.
Can Tarantino Revive Himself?
He brought back Travolta. He revived Pam Grier. Can he resuscitate himself?Thats the question that Slate is asking. Everybody is sooo concerned for poor Quentin - as one guy said in the comments section of another article on this site - its like everybody thinks he was a cute boyband back in the mid 1990's, and now his audience has outgrown him.
Now, for the first time in his wunderkind career—at 40, he's actually past the wunderkind stage—Tarantino is facing real questions about his skill as a writer and a director. Like: After Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The Matrix movies, will yet another kung fu movie choreographed by Yuen Woo-Ping seem tired? There is one great little tidbit that I didn't know about Quentin in this article - his name was made up by his mother (first and last).
Seventeen-year-old Connie Zastoupil christened her infant son in 1963 by mixing high art with low and then infusing the blend with an arrogant, here-he-is-and-he'll-change-the-world bravado. "I wanted a name that would fill up the entire screen," she told Vanity Fair in 1994. "A multisyllable name: Quen-tin Ta-ran-ti-no." His first name was lifted from William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury, but it was also inspired by the Burt Reynolds character, Quint, from Gunsmoke. And his last name? She made it up. It just sounded cool.
Tarantino Compared/Contrasted With Orson Welles
I don't know enough about how Welles was received back in the day, but my general impression is that he and Tarantino aren't particularly comparable.
Orson Welles was 26 when Citizen Kane was released. Tarantino was 31 when Pulp Fiction opened. Those ages seem close enough to add to the comparison. Yet, in truth, Tarantino was a lot younger than Welles, and not just because of his exuberant, helter-skelter way of talking on so many television talk shows, or even his giddy taste for roller-coaster movies, violence and a world in which movies referred largely to other movies.
Comparing Tarantino With George Lucas
In an interview with icCoventry, Samuel L. Jackson is asked to compare the style's of George Lucas (for whom Jackson worked on the new Star Wars movies) and Quentin Tarantino (for whom Jackson worked on Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown):
Quentin could come in here and suck the air out of the room. George is very low key. Very laid back. He knows what he wants to do. He leaves the actors alone and lets us do what he wants to do. There was stuff falling down, saws going off. Everything that would make another director crazy. He was very calm - even when the storm came.
Tarantino Gets Chance To Program A TV Network
Beginning on October 5th, and running thru October 13th, Quentin Tarantino has been picked to choose the programming for the cable network Trio. The show is called "My Trio" and is
aimed at giving well-known personalities outside the TV business a chance to program prime time for a week. Trio's audience isn't rated yet by Nielsen Media Research, so even guest programmers needn't worry about losing their jobs.Somehow, regardless of what he decides to put on the air, I can't see Quentin fearing losing his regular job over this gig.
Trailer For Natural Born Killers Back On Net
Here. I always find it interesting to look back on how films were initially marketed. The trailer itself is a 20mb download.
You can also check out the trailers for Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Reservoir Dogs and From Dusk Till Dawn.

Tarantino To Make A Soccer Movie!?
Not bloody likely! Despite numerous articles claiming that Tarantino was going to make a soccer trilogy - its not true.
After running an article touting the Tarantino soccer movie theory yesterday, the Guardian Unlimited ran this correction today:
After running an article touting the Tarantino soccer movie theory yesterday, the Guardian Unlimited ran this correction today:
Quentin Tarantino has no direct connection with plans for Goal! despite the suggestion of the headline, Tarantino plans Premier footie flick, page 7, yesterday. The film is a project backed by the producers of some of Tarantino's films.
Tarantino Remakes Snow White?
No, he's not that crazy. But AMC is going to start airing a new show called The Wrong Coast that is
"a weekly animated half-hour that will make fun of movies, TV and pop culture".And one of their first episodes will be a stop-motion animated remake of Snow White in Tarantino style. No doubt the 7 dwarves will be morphed into the 7 characters of Reservoir Dogs [White, Brown, Blonde, Orange, Pink, Blue & Nice Guy Eddie].
Site Launched
...and we are live. The site concept is pretty simple - anything and everything about Quentin Tarantino and his films in a daily weblog format. So if you've got news or seen an article that hasn't been mentioned here, send it in.
