Tarantino To Tackle Slavery Next?
A glimmer of what Tarantino thinks might be next for him: a spaghetti western set during the time of slavery and the underground railroad. He's calling it 'a southern'.
I'd like to do a Western. But rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with. Let's shine that light on ourselves. You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or, you could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it 'A Southern.'"
Kill Bill 3-D?
Just one more Tarantino thought leaking out there - he'd do Kill Bill in 3D if he could do it over again. Does that mean that the often mentioned Kill Bill 3 will be Kill Bill 3-D?
Elle Driver In Kill Bill 3?
With QT kicking around ideas for another installment of Kill Bill in the media again, Daryl Hannah wants to bring the Elle Driver character back.
I'm not sure whether she's serious, or just begging for a role - any role - in a movie people will pay attention to.
And her plea has worked well enough to get her listed on the Kill Bill Vol.3 IMDB page.

Next for Tarantino? How about a British spy movie based on the novels of Len Deighton?

Whats next for QT? How about making films of the Millennium Trilogy books.
QT Doing Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! Remake?
Quentin must've gotten drunk this weekend, because there are now rumors of him re-making Russ Meyer's Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!. We even have a possible cast of Britney, Kim Kardashian and Eva Mendez.
Not very likely.
Tarantino Turns Down Hawaii Five-0
It doesn't sound like the idea ever got very far, but QT turned down the chance to make a Hawaii Five-0 film recently.
"I tried to watch the old TV show, but it sucks. I don't even like Hawaii."

GRINDHOUSE 2 RUMORS
I rather doubt that it'll happen, but the little bits of info about GRINDHOUSE 2 possibilities continue to float around.
"Robert (Rodriguez) said he'd do it (Machete) and asked for us to be in it," they explain, "Robert wants to do GRINDHOUSE 2 with (the two films being) "Machete" and "The Babysitter Twins."
QT Says, Come Drink With Me?
There may be more to the rumors of QT re-making a Chinese Kung Fu movie prior to starting Inglorious Bastards than I originally thought. A story in the Hollywood Reporter today about the Weinsteins investing in Asian films says this:
Titles that the fund is expected to handle include Wong Kar Wai's "My Blueberry Nights," the opening-night film at the Festival de Cannes, and a remake of the Hong Kong martial arts movie "Come Drink With Me," directed by Quentin Tarantino.
I think this is the IMDB entry for the original version of Come Drink With Me.
Kung Fu Rumors Coming Back
With GRINDHOUSE officially hitting theaters on Friday, its inevitable that rumors of QT's next film start to fly. Its never really clear from the articles whether Tarantino is committing to making the films it appears that he is, or if the writers are just picking and choosing sentences that fit the mold of what they want him to make next. This next rumor probably falls into the latter category:
Quentin Tarantino to Remake Classic Chinese Kungfu Movie.
I'm pretty sure this is just a re-hash of something QT said back in 2003, but we just don't know enough yet.
Savini Floats GRINDHOUSE Rumors
Tom Savini talks GRINDHOUSE over at Fangoria. Mostly promo-type stuff, but he does float a couple of rumors:
1. The fake trailers in GRINDHOUSE may get made into actual full-length feature films. I find this highly unlikely - though since Rob Zombie is involved it becomes possible (he'll put anything on film).
2. We may get treated to future GRINDHOUSE films from QT and RR if all goes well. This is pretty likely at this point, though I expect that it would probably not be something they'd want to tackle right away. Maybe in 2012.

Return Of The Vega Brothers Rumor
I wasn't going to post about Michael Madsen talking about Vega Brothers again, but I've gotten a few emails and I see that JoBlo has picked it up. Here's what Madsen said:
"Well, first he [Tarantino] said he would do it, then he said he wasn't going to do it. Then he called me and said, 'You know, I've figured out a way to do it. It can't be a prequel because you and John don't look the same. It wouldn't make sense as a sequel because you're both dead.' And he gave me an idea that would be really outrageous - that John and I would be the twin brothers of Vic and Vincent. We come from Amsterdam to LA to avenge the deaths of our brothers. I think that's pretty interesting. For me, I'd love to do it."
The problem I have with this is that its basically the same thing Madsen said back in 2003 and QT has said contradictory things about the film for ages.

Hendrix Movie Story Not True
UPDATE: Further confirmation that the Hendrix story was not true from a Tarantino spokesperson:
"The Hendrix flick is not a project Quentin has any involvement with, and his representatives have never been contacted by anyone associated with it."Related: Tarantino To Direct Hendrix Biopic!?
Tarantino To Direct Hendrix Biopic!?
There is a news report that Tarantino will direct a Jimi Hendrix film. There is even a Dragonslayer Films press release announcing QT's involvement (copied below).
I'm highly skeptical of this announcement for lots of reasons, not the least of which is the mention that QT is "currently working in China on Kill Bill 3" in the press release. We know that isn't true - which either means that the person writing the press release is full of shit about the whole project, or just doesn't have a clue about what Quentin is working on and tried to guess.
I'm guessing the whole story is bogus, but I could be wrong.
Thanks to Scott for alerting me to this story.Infamous, music loving director Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill 1 & 2, and currently working in China on Kill Bill 3) has signed on to direct Dragonslayer's first major feature, the Jimi Hendrix story. Scripts are currently being worked on, and Tarantino will have full access to Hendrix's music, likeness, and brother Leon to tell the real shocking story. Shooting is scheduled to begin later this year with outdoor shots in Seattle, New York, and London, and interiors in Toronto. Elle Von Lear, Senior Executive producer, has access to over 350 interviews filmed by Emmy Award Winning film maker David Kramer, as well as a large body of live footage of the artist, to be incorporated in the film. The Aleem brothers, twins who performed on all of his three albums at the Electric Lady Studios, and Juma Sutan, are consultants on the film.

Grind House Casting Rumors
The rumors of Grind House casting are really starting to fly. CHUD is saying that Michael Biehn has been cast (I remember him best as Johnny Ringo from Tombstone) in the Robert Rodriguez half of the film.
Also, Moviehole is reporting that Rose McGowan and Marley Shelton have also been cast. Plus, House of Horrors says that Tom Savini has been cast.

Grind House Details, Plus Bastards Info
As previously reported, Grind House will be in 2 parts. Robert Rodriguez part is called Planet Terror and Tarantino's section will be Death Proof. Rodriguez film has a zombie theme and Tarantino's is a slasher film, but with a car.
The film will also feature trailers for fictional movies:
"That's one of the things we're looking the most forward to, shooting the phony trailers that will play in between the movies. I'm working out my blaxploitation trailer, and possibly a kung-fu trailer, a sexploitation trailer, a spaghetti-western trailer. I just need to kind of work them out a little bit. I'm just getting them down there, but I think for sure I'm going to do the sexploitation trailer, which is called Cowgirls in Sweden. "As for Inglorious Bastards, here's what QT had to say:
...will probably be the next thing I do after I finish Grind House. That will be my next big Mount Everest, climb-the-mountain kind of project.
I've got a big portion of it done. I've been waiting for all the Kill Bill stuff to be over with, and then to maybe chill on it a little bit, and then [get] ready to finish writing it. ... I have like five years of writing behind me now, and I just need to add one more year to it.

Vzyat Tarantino
A few Russian guys are trying to steal a new film buy Quentin Tarantiono, but not only to sell it, but to show the never-before seen film on a wedding of their friends. Certainly a lot of interesting stuff happens to them on their quest for the movie. The film is currently listed as "filming" and has Quentin playing himself in the film.
QT Dating Shar Jackson?
Untitled Mandarin Film Details?
Martial-art star Donnie Yen also said there was a good chance that he would work with Tarantino but he did not say more."Thanks to Todd from Twitch Film for the heads up.
Yen in a Tarantino flick? Could happen ... he is the lead star of Iron Monkey, a flick Tarantino lobbied hard to get into North American theaters, so they're certainly familiar with one another. There's no source on this, so I have no idea how reliable the information is, but this could very well be the break that brings Yen into the western world in a big way ...
Jason Out, Bastards Back In
"What's happening with Friday The 13th? Nothing at all! It's a complete lie. I like Jason and everything, but I've no intention of directing a movie! New Line talked to me about it, but it was a complete fabrication, that article. I would love to do a horror film. I'm just saying it's not going to be Friday The 13th..."That seems concrete enough, so I guess we can scratch this idea as rumor. As for what he is going to do next, well thats left a bit open:
"My next film is probably going to be Inglorious Bastards, yeah. I've written scenes. I've written a lot of it but now I have to sit down and start putting it together in a script that I can start shooting. And that's a different thing."Thats my emphasis on the 'probably' in QT's statement. I'd love to see Inglorious Bastards next - and sometime soon please, but until there is confirmation that the filming has actually begun ... well, lets just say that Tarantino has enough different ideas in his head that he could end up going in alot of different directions.
QT To Retire In 2020?
What kind of confuses me here is - what 'decade' is QT being honored for? Over the past 10 years, he has only released Jackie Brown and Kill Bill - certainly good stuff - but best of the decade? I'm not sure thats enough work over that time period to be considered for such an honor.
Quentin To Do Jason Movie?
IGN FilmForce has learned that none other than Oscar-winner Quentin Tarantino is in final negotiations to write and direct the Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie, an all new Friday the 13th for New Line.At first
blush, it sounds too cheesy to have any truth to it. But the more I think about this, I think its exactly what QT would like to do. Just like with Kill Bill, he's taking a genre (slasher/horror film instead of kung-fu) that has long been neglected by anyone with talent, with the sole purpose of resurrecting it; showing that even this so-called lowly genre can contain compelling films if done the right way.
The projected schedule for this movie would have principal photography starting this year.
UPDATE: Check out the Friday the 13th forum thread for a bunch more discussion.
UPDATE #2: Bloody Disgusting reports that this is NOT a rumor, though the way they word it, Tarantino is only "in talks" to do the film, not confirmed.
UPDATE #3: Even Reuters is reporting this rumor. And the guys in the Friday the 13th Forum have started photoshopping this idea.
Next Script Revealed
QT's Kung Fu Movie Revealed?
According to Hong Kong paper Oriental Daily, Quentin Tarantino is thinking about doing a remake of The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, one of his favorite Shaw Brothers' classics. ... According to the paper, Shaw Brothers has asked Quentin to do the remake and he has agreed. But it would not be possible until 2006 according to his schedule.Maybe, but this is pretty old (Oct 03 with mention of Tarantino's thoughts from a year prior). So far though, its the best info I've seen on what might be planned. (pulled from the Forum)
